    Hi Kathy
Nice elf, would you mind if I did a few in my style of carving, they sure won't be as nice as yours.

Looks great, Kathy! I look forward to seeing it finished. There's a lot of depth to that carving...what size block did you use...is it done on the corner (looks like it is)?

Hi Bob K. Thank you, the elf is Basswood Triangular blank 7” inches length x 3” inches width or if you have a 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” x 21” inch basswood block you can yield 6 elves. Yes, it is done on the corner actually all my elves are done from the corner...I find it much easier. As the nose is the most prominent part of the carving it almost already done.
These little elves can be carved on any size blank.

Here is a link to some instructions I did on carving elves https://forum.woodcarvingillustrated...ctor-elf/page2

This current elf is the first elf I've carved since 2009 and I can see a different perspective in design. Funny how that happens.

Looking good Kathy. For some silly reason I was expecting to see someone with a whip. What is it they say? Read twice, post once.
