I just completed this clock, celtic knot mandala in basswood stained cherry. For Time reference points I made a dot on the 5 minute points with a wood burning tip. I used a combination of relief and chip carving patterns.

Thank you for the comments. I enjoyed this carving, makes me remember my friend Craig Bradshaw (passed on) who first introduced me to woodcarving. I recall the pride he showed when one of my early pieces took a ribbon at one of our shows (Genesee Valley Woodcarvers, Rochester NY) I used a pattern that was passed on from early Celtic Cross work commonly seen on old grave markers, and made the piece my own by creating the clock.
