But then again I am a big fan of Jessica Rabbit the cartoon character.....Roger rabbits wife. I love the artwork and how beautiful they made her. It is amazing although that woman tried today with plastic surgery to look like her!. It is a rather insane world...when you look through it ....all in the eyes of an artist. Which I am to the very bone. Ok I have to shut up...enough.

I understand your point,.....but honestly I live in Hawaii and have been to Texas beaches....there are thousands of women in bathing suits that are dressed like this in real life on those beaches...and I would say in a year times with tourist they could go up into the millions, the issue is women about women. Women have been wear tiny bikinis since the 1960s in total public and I have yet seen anyone out there telling them it is offensive nor there being on beach dressed like that offensive nor controversial. Especially the ones in their 60 and 70s year olds,and yes I do see them parade down the beach in this kind of outfit at that age also..... This is carving forum, many people here are artist, some are hobbiest....learning how to carve. We post our carvings that is it. It is about the carving and not the context. Art is art. Bettie Pages life I think is very tragic story in the whole context as much the same as Marylin Monroe. Culture should be teaching young women ...woman to woman about the hardships of womans life and why this is not ok....but we do not. If your offended for religious beliefs then it is very understandable ....but of all places to be offended ....on a forum that has art and artist and wood carving is the part I do not understand. But you do have the right to your opinion and I can respect that....in spite of my own issues about this subject matter.

Hi Joan,

I'm not trying to be smart or downplay your opinion, but may I ask, what do you find offensive? To me this is a realistic carving of a realistic scene. But I do understand that beauty or disdain is in the eye of the beholder, so I would like to know what aspects make you feel strongly about this. Not to argue with you, but to better understand your perspective. Perhaps there is a way to tag posts so that people will have an opportunity to consider that the subject matter might not be something they want to look at before they open the post.

I recently had a dear friend of mine get molested, and when I saw the first picture and read some of the comments, it brought that tragedy all back to me. I didn't even look at the rest of the pictures until now, and I must say, this piece IS very well done. I really love the way her face is. I should have kept my emotions in tack, and again, I am sorry, especially, I apologize to you Mr Smirnov.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and I hope she is okay. And, you shouldn't have to apologize for expressing an opinion about how you feel.
