  • Commissioned angels {I'm actually getting PAID for all this fun??!! COOL!!}

    Hi all. Just thought I'd share this pic of 2 angels I've been commissioned to whittle, in a sort of "before & after" mode. The finished one just needs to be varnished & signed. The unfinished one, well, I think I have a bit more whittling to do on her . The pattern for these comes from the book "Angel carving & other favorites" by Ron Ransom. Happy whittlin' all.

    Nice looking angels, your customer should be pleased with those.
    Just out of curiosity, how thick is the blank that they are carved from?

          Thanks Wayne. The book says to use thicker than what I'm using. I'm using 3/4 inch thick pine from a 8 foot plank of it I found along side the road. I actually think they look nice thin like this, and so do a few i've already done them for. So 90 dollars for these two angels from wood i got free is a pretty good profit i'd say, as they are paying shipping & handling costs too. Need to do more whittling i guess.

                  Good looking angles, well carved. I've done four of the same for people in stress, they are always appreciated.

                    You must be doing it right if they are flying out the door! Keep up the good work!

                      Nicely done and a great subject. What book did you get them from? Curious because I'm looking for angel patterns.

                          Thanks and even if not the one he used, close enough. I'll order it and it looks like what I need.

                            Pays to read descriptions sometimes.

                              Wow, I sure overlooked that. I was focused on the angles and not the description of the book. Regardless, now that I got the information twice...I should remember it.
                              Thanks.
