  • Just another Imp

    While waiting for the paint to dry while working on the house sign, I start this fun type carving.
    3" sq basswood, acrylic paints on the figure and Danish oil for the background.

    I kind of try Merle's way of adding stains.
    1. Rough up the background with 50 grit sandpaper.
    2. Wet it, wiped off the access water.
    3. Gave it a coat of Red mahogany, wipe off right away.
    4. Gave carving a 1 min blast in the microwave
    5. Sanded background with 220 grit
    6. Then gave the background a coat of cherry
