"Old Sailor"

This is a carving I worked on last week in a class with Vic Hood. It started with a large chunk of butternut and this is where I got after 4 days. I still have some details to do ob the collar, the rope , and the base, before I apply a finish. But I 'm pleased with it so far. Thanks for looking!

Yeah, it was a good class! It has been a while since I carved anything realistic, but I enjoy carving a variety of things in a variety of styles. Here is a link to one of my favorites I carved a few years ago.

He is about 16 inches tall and 12 inches wide.
