  • ~~~ Eagle Relief, first carving of 2019 ~~~

After a month of Christmas carvings, it was time for a changeup. This Eagle relief measures 7 inches diagonally x 1 inch depth. Of basswood finished in acrylics. HINT: bird beak's sometimes break, or so I've found. I now harden by saturating the tip with CA glue. After hardening sand it to rough up a bit, for paint to adhere. NOTE: Do NOT do any wood burning over treated area as fumes are toxic.
Was fun to do and looks great hanging on the wall for now. I have plans to include it in a larger patriotic project for Veterans. Local VFW
