  • Apperntice progress.

For almost two years now, I have been teaching my latest apprentice the skills required to become a wood carver and ship modeller. Each Tuesday after school, he arrives full of ambition and thirsting for knowledge. Today he finished his half model of a locally built barque the Harper, and we made the backboard for it. Just needs another coat of varnish and he will be able to mount it and take it home. He is learning, applies himself well and is anxious to begin another project. I am very pleased with his progress to date and I am sure he will make a great carver in time.

It's always refreshing to see young people getting interested in working with their hands...particularly wood carving. Kudos to your young apprentice on a fine job, and kudos to you for taking the time and effort to hand your knowledge and skill down to the younger generation.
