  • Lazy evening carving on the deck

Such a beautiful evening I decided to do some carving on my back deck and enjoy the warmth of the evening with my best buddy, Nikita. Chipped away at this carving in Basswood that I have been working on, my own design, similar to one seen in WCI, inspired as usual by ships, sailors and the sea.

Looking good, Bob, and enjoy that style of captain/fisherman. Can't wait to see the next step. One of my direct ancestors was a whaling ship captain and always like anything related to that life. Your dog should also be the carving...nice one BTW.

Got my sailor finished, but certainly not on the deck today. hurricane Dorian slammed ashore here in the Maritimes, and while we are far enough from the eye, we are getting plenty of wind and rain. The rain we need, but the wind just sucks. Anyway, it is warm and cozy in the shop and I finished painting him a little bit ago. Nikita doesn't want to venture out by herself for a puppy break, so I had to get dressed in wet weather gear and take her out. The things we do for our dogs.

Nice composition, Bob, and nice carving. Love the pose and posture. Pipes always fit in nicely with any nautical theme carving.
