  • For my friend in Alaska

Little over a year ago Bruce sent me three big boxes of Alaskan Cotton Wood. In appreciation, I send them something from the CW. I posted a while back the Apache Indian I had carve using Jim Redhawks' style of carving. Bruces's wife Vickie doesn't get around too well anymore but like fir trees, I carved the tree out of basswood, mounted it on Cottonwood. painted it with two shade of green, gave the painted surface a coating of an acrylic gloss with some blue sparkly stuff mixed in. Then painted the edges of the branches with a 50/50 mixture of Emer's Glue & water, then flocked it with the wood bust/particles I had saved when using the Saburrstooth burs. The picture doesn't really show the tree off, but it came out pretty nice.

As usual, C&C welcomed and encouraged

I like those. I recall you saying that you got a box of wood.

I would make the snow in the tree a lot more uneven.
I'm looking out at my big spruce trees, no more than 2-3" wet snow today.
It's piled and scattered all over.
