  • A new Lab head carving.

I normally do the dog heads for walking stick toppers but I was ask to do a black lab head to set on a desk. I have some small pieces of manzanita and I plan to use one of those for a base.

Well, it will look great, I'm sure, Randy. Easier to go from small to large? What kind of base...if any? Great subject, since we love Labs here and had two fantastic ones in the past.

That's a great looking lab, Randy.

I've tried dog heads with little success, which annoys me as I'm a utter dog fanatic. Any good resources you could recommend for learning how it's done?

This may be of some help. If you have a program that let's you adjust size of pictures to the size of the carving you want to do you can get measurements you need and cut out the picture and use it as a pattern .

                  Hope that is helpful.
