  • JJ - first knife handle

I was approached by a hunter, a big fan of knives who wanted to have fun with a unique object. We therefore approached a good blacksmith cutler I know in order to obtain the blade of his choice and I took over for the handle.

For the cutler as for me it is a first and we are confronted with some beginner mistakes but the game is nice and we will see in the end what it will give ...

The cutler took out a beautiful blade on which he fixed a good piece of boxwood that I must carve according to the choice of the applicant.

I mentioned a few mistakes, here is one. The cutler thought that this nasty defect was only found on the surface, it is excusable he does not know the wood. So I'll have to do with it, the blade is stuck in the handle.

Looks like an enjoyable piece and am always partial to knife designs.

I've found making some of my own knives very enjoyable, especially when they work. Only made a couple with 6 in blades, the ones I make are mostly for my carvings. Keeps us posted on your progress
