  • Got started on a couple new ones

After a while have been duing some different things and came up with a request from my daughter inlaw. We were in a church in England, she motioned me over to a bench, and pointed to the end of it and asked if I could do something like this. I shuddered, and said "I will try" so here is my start.
What I saw was and I could not get a proper photo in the darkness of the church was a pair of hands. The wood is a semi hard, cedar type ? 2" thick and 12" wide approx .perhaps it will be full winter before Ifinish, this wood will have to be carved not power sanded as the fines are very fine and smelly. But a sample the finish is a beaut.

Yes and I can hardly wait, Mark. Matching up the hands and fingers on oposite side is the real challege.

You can do it Chuck, but in case it doesn’t come out, tell her you are not supposed to be shaking hands during covid.
If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

Thanks for the thought Merle, she is an real kind and loving gal , keeping this hidden from her is one of the challenges,a she like to come in my shop to "see " what I have been doing. And now I will have to have the call me when the "kids" come over so I can hide it . OH my gosh two challenges at once.. I'm getting too old for this.. HA.

                    Hi Chuck
You are never to old to lean to do new things. Looks like you will have to have 2 projects on the go so you can quickly hide the one and whip out the other in a second or two hehehe.

Best of luckJust take your time and all will be good. !!

Update on the Handshake , I had a WeCheer unit it started leaking and I complained about it they sent me a new one,,, Yippee. and a set of chisels , but they don't stay as sharp as I want and have to keep you know,, Any way I ordered some Foredom chisels and They are nice and by the way fit very well in the We Cheer units... Then I found that the oil leak isn't that bad on the old WeCheer unit,, Now I can change back and forth.. But here is my progress report on the Hands. I will be trading the progress back on the Artsy things this next week. Thanks for looking

                          Hi Chuck
Off to a real good start on the hands mate. Hey if you had a massive chunk of walnut that design type of the piece with the holes in it would make one heck of an awesome and stylish wine bottle rack.

Well Glenn,, On the hands, I am having a time getting the fingers correct, I have ground and sanded some extra to make filler and am filling up fingers and going to remove the bottom part of the frame so I can make it correct. Gribbitzz.

Then if it does come out OK, I am going to start all over on another piece of wood. And PAINT THAT ORIGINAL!!! BLACK! Jus a little disappointed. But as a lil lady once said patience chuck patience.
HAHaaa, well in my house that wood not work, the vino wood disappear and make the holder unless.. BUT buy more wine...

                              Hi Chuck
I had the same sort of issues with a lynx I was trying to get to come good that just didn't so I had to turn it into something else so do understand your frustration on that onehehehehe. Am about to go to round 2 on that part of the project hehehe.

With your second point I have to agree just buying more wine IS the perfect "solution" to bring about a "solution" to the wine rack issue hehehehehehe.

Best of luck with round 2 on the hands.
