  • "Carving Pen Figures"

A week or so ago I was thumbing through a Treeline Catalog and happened to see their offer for carve a pen kits on page 49. I've often looked in wonder at handmade wood turned pens at arts and crafts and woodcarving shows but not having a lathe I always figured that making a custom pen was beyond my reach. But here they were, ready to carve, offered for what I consider a reasonable price. So just as a lark I ordered four pen kits, and to make it worth spending the postage I added on a couple of goose eggs and a couple of aspen practice sticks (as I've never carved aspen before and am curious to how it carves). At the time of the order I thought about ordering Steve Browns book on "Carving Pen Figures" but figured that I could probably find enough information and photo's for ideas online. As it turned out this wasn't exactly true for my needs and I ended up ordering a used copy off of Amazon which saved me the cost of shipping for the entire project. I'm still waiting on the book but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone here on the forum has carved some of these pens and if so would then care to post them?
