Hi guys
Got stage one of the new plan done. Got the swamp Kauri table finished. The thing with the wood is you never know what you you are going to get until it is all sanded down.
Given the texture and colours in the wood I used for the base I kept the design simple and plain and let the wood be the feature. I think this gorgeous bit of Kauri deserved it that way
Was going for an elegant and not too cluttered look.
Despite how it looks it is very stable with the base being as wide as the top at the one end and basically a pedestal at the other. You have to tip it to about 45 degrees before it looks like falling.
I used 25mm aluminium angle each side of both legs and plenty of screws so it is as solid as can be and can be easily pulled apart for moving to the retirement village when the time comes.
With the weight of it the table will never be knocked over. I would estimate around 300 hours have gone into this piece not that it matters.
