  • First relief carving

I decided to try a relief carving for my next, offering to the silent auction for the Christopher Foundation event at our church. I still have a little clean up work, but it’s pretty close. I think I will end up finishing the Winnie the Pooh and giving it to my granddaughter.

Nice carving and lots of symbolism.

Cadn24 - When I first looked at the photos, I thought there was a curved part below the low wall holding the stone. I thought, "Is that a pit that kept the stone in place in front of the tomb." On closer look I realized it was your glove.

When I read "First Relief Carving," it brings back memories. The photo below was mine, a gift to my girlfriend 73 years ago! We were married 70 years ago this very month.

Oh cadn24 (& other readers)! I mislead everyone with idea our marriage has survived 70 years. We had been together for 44 years when she died of a brain tumor. The memories linger on.

I am so sorry. I hope you cherish those memories. 44 years is still a blessing

I finished this piece last night. I stained this one using Minwax pre-stain and liquid stain/poly. In general, I am happy with it. Also I have attached the flier for the event I am making this for if anyone is interested.

Here are the finished pieces that went to the fundraiser at church. The next one is a new one that was requested by a friend who missed the bid on the first relief carving. I used a wood burner to accent the outlines.
