    go it done,
my son-in-law , retired after 23 years in the marines, he showed me a picture of the marine horse color guard, i had done some horse in the past, but nothing like this,
if i had not known of this site, i probably not tried to do this, but lots of help out there,
Lynn, tom H,jim oh, ron t, keamo, mike mucucci, ever Col Ford, and lance cpl, carmona, sent me picture 2 times , like a fool i did not print them.
my son in law liked it, but me, you know us carver are, always some to do different, my wife ask if i would ever be satisfied, i hope not,
thomp had taken care of this Ole yankee, and downsized the picture for me, now to get a good camera. that will make it look better won't it?
    hope this works,
    thanks to all,
now to do the grandson who is shipping out to Afghanistan.

Camera or no camera , Sam. That is a fantastic horse and a brilliant leatherneck! I don't think there is anything to make it look better, it's awesome the way it is! Congratulations!

Sam, Any Marine would be proud to have this carving.

AND! For any one else looking at this posting....maybe we can talk Sam into posting some of the photos of his other horses and wagons. What say Sam?

                    Re: finished

Fine job! And it is okay to be critical of your own work....that's what you take to the next piece you carve....and do it better. You should be very proud of this one.

                        Re: finished

Wow, that is really good, Sam. Very realistic.

I realize my opinion may not count for much since I am such a newbie but it is seeing stuff like this that makes me twitch and 1) want to try *everything* next and 2) wonder what sorts of things I might be able to do after a year or two (or 10) of practice.

Thanks for adding to the inspiration.

i thought when i gave the carving to Stan, that would be as good as it gets, i was right to some degree, the replies from the carvers, wow , i feel blessed to know you all, and thanks toWCI for having a place to gather,
as for posting other carvings, i just this week learned how to post my pictures
now to take picture , that have been sent to me, photos, not emails, and post them , I'll have to get thomp busy and get them on the computer,
