  • This one belongs in a Goat Locker!

Now that I've got your attention does anyone remember why? No fair Googling!

This past September I got a call from an old Chief Signalman shipmate that I served with 40-years ago with whom I hadn't been in touch with for close to 20-years. We had a great time getting caught up on things and he invited me to his birthday party this month but unfortunately with us just getting back from the moutains and his place being a good drive from the house we will not be able to attend. I felt really bad about not being able to be there so I figured that in lieu of attending I'd carve him a caricature of a CPO based on one of Gene's tutorials.

It's 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 6" basswood finished with acrylics and waterbased matte polyurethane. The cap was carved seperate from the body.

                    Hi Eddy,

As I already pm'd you, nicde carving, nice painting. I'll be the first to bite. Why does it belong in a goat's locker? And, I'm with SusieQ, what is it?

I'm going to try to make this one short. Sorry for not responding earlier. My ticker decided to go out for lunch this past week so I've been pretty busy with doctors and hospitals. Today's the first time on the computer since Wednesday. I'm still trying to get my weather legs under me!

Thank you one and all for your comments. They are much appreciated.

As JJireh mentioned the "Goat Locker" is the slang term for the Chief's Quarters aboard ship. It"s said that it goes back to the sailing days when goats were brought aboard ship for milk and the chief's were in charge of them!
