Bah hum BUG for Christmas

This is a carving I just completed as a gift for my son.
He is an entomologist. It is one of his favorite bugs, a stag beetle. I carved it in one of the bark bass wood planks and used linseed oil with burnt umber oil paint to get the coloring in the bug itself.
It was fun to do.

This little fellow could almost pass for a moose. He should like the gift, especially it represents something he is interested in.
