New carving

[Simplyme]

I have been away from carving but not wood. I have recently been scrolling. I ran out of scrolling wood and did have quite a few pieces of basswood, so decided to go at trying a carving. Got this from Carving Fantasy & Legend Figures by Shawn Cipa.

Its 8" basswood finished with acrylic paint and poly. Also applied a dark wax stain to antique it.

Very nice. It's hard to tell from the phot and I'm not familiar with Cipa's work - is it carved in the round or relief?

I should of never started this or scrolling...Now everywhere I go I spot all types of wood and I have to feel and smell it. Its really an addiction....
