      Dileon: Power carve it, huh? Well, since I don't have power (yet?), I'll keep plugging away with the knife. It definitely is beautiful wood, though, and well worth the effort.

        Thanks, Dave. I liked that one so much that I cut another piece. This time I added "hair" as Eddy suggested. It definitely adds another dimension, although perhaps the picture doesn't reflect it as well as seeing the real thing.

            Jim... You're right. It is hard to see the hair in the photo but that is a real pretty piece of wood.

              Thanks, Eddy. The picture shows the wood being honey colored with red highlights. The mesquite is actually somewhat darker than that. Still beautiful, but not so striking as in the picture. Guess I should have played with the color balance a bit before uploading. And now since I've given the piece away, getting another picture might be difficult.
