  • androgynous? naaaaaa...

This is my mornings work! Don't be fooled by her Adams Apple! This gal is all woman and she knows it! She is carved by my bandsaw and my Dremel carved from a piece of tan Oak that came from my firewood stack. I love cord wood!
Her name is Thelma Rose. Named for my neighbor and her mom. We both love Jim Shore and his carvings. So, this is my first attempt. The next one will have a more exagerated nose and bust, and much more country carvings on her skirt. Would love to hear your thoughts!
P.S. I forgot to mention that I used a can of Krylon SEMI gloss...bet my my bottom dollar...that's high gloss all day long - totally not supposed to be that shiney! I think I will buff her out a bit with some wet dry sand paper to get a more aged result. But she does look kinda vintage to me, so I like her a lot .

Neat carving, Keoma. I like it. My mother's maiden name was Velma Rose.

YAY GENE! I was thinking that too! I wish I had not broke her nose off - it was such a schnoz!!!

Thank you Ed! I am glad you like her! I love the name Velma!

            Keoma,

I agree with Gene, she is kind of "Burtonesque". But she's a cutie, and I do so like the aged look.

Thelma Rose is quite charming! i like that you carved her from tanoak, utilizing local resources.I carved a spirit and he turned out to dark and shiny so i used the pads(like a kitchen scrubby) on my dremel and it buffed him out real nice.Don't know how it would be on paint though.

Keoma, I was gonna say she is a keeper, but I was wrong. She's been given away. Another unique idea of yours.

Off the subject, but have they found out anything from your test?
