Biggest one yet

I decided the minis are fun but I had this idea for a large Santa. So off to the shelf I went and finally found a chunck of Basswood I felt would do.
It is still in very rough shape, but I think you can get an idea of the direction I am going. I wanted movement in this one with the wind shipping up his coat and beard.

I had to stop for the day, Whew bigger is bigger. It is 12" tall and about 4" wide. I will post more when I get to work on it again.

Hi Wqanda,

You're off to a nice start. I'm trying to finish an Old World Santa, but he's looking kind of "wooden". Perhaps I'll learn to give them movement.

Hi Ron T., Yeah, I was looking at trying something with a bit of movement. So we will see. Big difference in carving the little two inch Santa's, (no pun intended)

Good one Tom! There are a lot of chips on the floor and a lot more before he's done. For once, I know what I am going to paint on his back.

Mark, Sharon, Dale, Bill and Curt, thanks for commenting on my WIP. I will be working on him as soon as I get the coffee infusion! I've done the small ones on the corner and decided to try a big one that way. If it works for a study stick, I figured it would work for a bigger one.
