First Time Santas Almost Finished...

Here are a couple of Santas that I've almost finished. I patterned them after Arlene's Santas on her web site. I really enjoyed carving them and discovered that there are lots more to learn each time you carve a different one... As you've said before, practice, practice, practice... Tried different approaches to the eyes, nose and mouth since that seems to be an area of difficulty for me...any/all comments, advice certainly welcome and greatly appreciated!

I always enjoy looking at post that states first time.....

I am alwyas surprised how they never look like a first time.

And this did not disapoint.....love them

Thanks for the nice compliment! Arlene is such a great carver, so I thought I'd try one of her little Santas since the holiday season isn't tooo far off... Never carved a Santa before, now she has me hooked - I've got another one with a totally different style on the bench already! Ha! Again, thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks everyone! Arlene's (and Gene's) ideas and videos are such great sources of ideas and techniques, it helps encourage newbies like me... I've already got 'requests' to carve several more of these little guys for friends and family members for the holidays, so these requests and your kind and generous comments certainly will keep me busy!
