Possibly my last.

I wasn't going to post about this commission until I had completed it, but it seems I may have very little time to do anything more for a bit. The factory to make wooden boxes is coming on line next month and I will simply be head down and tail up to earn my 60 grand/year. Soooo, I thought I might share this project now. After the exhibition I posted about recently, a fellow contacted me to say that he and his wife fell in love with my 'Mewling Bear', but unfortunately it had been sold before they got there. Apparently a child was giving the bear a kiss and a cuddle as they viewed him. That produced a big warm smile from I can tell you.The bear was also voted the most favourite among the school children I'm told. The man then ordered a similar bear. I told him it could not be the same out of deference to the purchaser of the original, but I fear now that it may be too different. Not finished yet, but your thoughts and comments are welcome.

Josef I REALLY like your little bear! You certainly gave 'birth' to a great little guy from that block of wood...Thanks for sharing the 'in progress photos' and the completed ones so we could see him come to life...Again, very nice little bear indeed!

Josef, I agree that little bear is great, and how you whittled it out of that rough block of wood is amazing to me, you have a talent. I've enjoyed your postings, good luck on your job !!!!!!!

Thanks Don, the money will come in handy, that's for sure. Gotta work to live unless you are an exceptional artist, and I am not that by any means.

Thank-you Hugh. It is always encouraging to hear words like that coming from such an experienced carver. I'm sure I'll be back in no time....some time...who knows? I can't say no to the money they are offering.

Thats a cute little bear you've carved out of that block of wood, great imagination, looking forward to seeing him finished. Best of luck on the job and hopefully once things settle down you'll have a little free time.

Great bear you've got going here. He's really looking good. I totally get it about the work part. (Hate it when work gets in the way of good carving time!). Good luck with the work, and hope you still get some time to enjoy your carving.

The bear turned out nice , will look great with some finish on him . I am sure you will find time to carve Joe . It has a hold on you now !
