Another use for small wood scraps..

I made a small handle for a seam ripper (used when sewing) with some hardwood scrap. It took very little wood and it's something a little different, might make a nice gift for the right person. You can use your imagination and come up with lots of styles for the handle, even personalize it with lettering or design. It's a very quick and easy project.
I bought a $2.00 seam ripper and smacked the handle with a hammer. It broke in half and left was the metal ripper I needed for my wooden handle.

I meant to add...

Carve the top of the wood so that the plastic cover will fit over it.

Hey Toycarver, great idea on re-fitting your reverse sewing system with a nicer handle. Even if you do call it a scrap piece of wood. I call it a carving block, that has 3 or 4 Santa's in it. A much nicer handle, in deed.

Tom-H, perhaps a good thing to write on the handle would be 'a stitch in time saves nine'. LOL on the carving block, for you that is what it is though!
Tom E, better leave the sewing to the women in the family, although if you take it up and are not good at it, this little tool will come in real handy. ;-)
