  • Banjo back

I wanted to carve the design on the resonator but the small carving tools I bought were no where near sharp enough, so I used a small round cutter in my dremel. Not what I originally was thinking. I am fixing this banjo up for myself to start teaching again. I've added some pictures and a few old ones of two of the electric banjos I've made.

That turned out real good, you should be happy with it. We are sometimes to critical of our own work.

Thank you, I like it. I need to invest in some proper knives.

You might also look for a burr for your Dremel that is "flame" shaped. It has both rounded and pointed parts... something like this: Buy Carving Burr, Gold Fine Grit, 1/8" Shank at Woodcraft.com

I like the way it turned out. The tree is a really nice composition and the moon in what I take as mother of pearl? worked out really well too.
          Thanks for showing us.

I like that flame point, would have worked nice. The moon is abalone, the camera sort of washed out the color.

That's really nice. I've seen others just use a burning pen to do it..........no depth, just plain flat burn (brown) marks on wood.
