Owl Sign - WIP

This is a sign I'm carving for friends. The owl is Red Oak and the sign is basswood. The sign will have the address number and words "This way." The eyes will have Cat Eye insets.

That's really neat looking.... what method are you using to attach the two types of wood together? dowels?

Here is a progress photo on the Owl Sign: The owl is now attached to the sign and the words "This Way" are carved. There is still some work to do on the wing and the street number. The Tigereye stones will be inset in the eyes and the lettering will be painted to be more visible.

Sharon - The sign will be outdoors, probably in the elements. I will finish it accordingly.
Here is the sign with dark red paint on the incised letters. As noted in another recent thread, it is difficult to keep the edges straight. I applied a sealer, then the paint (by lettering brush), then sanded the surface. The street number will be black.
