  • First Adventures in Carving

Hello everyone! I just started woodcarving last month and have been trying to teach myself as much as possible from all of you on the board and various videos online.

Thanks to Gene for his amazing videos that have helped me out tremendously.

Here's my latest carving, a Santa ornament, of course. Please let me know what you think or any areas you see where I could improve.

Thanks also go to Claude for providing the inspiration for this ornament. I really liked the technique and I'm thrilled to gain a better understanding of it now!

From the looks of that ornament, I'd say you were well on your way! Great job! Gene and Claude are both excellent carvers and you will learn a lot from the many great carvers on this board. Bonnie

A great job of carving...and I am really impressed since you have just started. Your cuts are clean and the detail is fantastic for any carver, much less a beginner. I see great carvings from you in the ner future..keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I'm in the middle of a snowman right now and I can't wait to see what emerges from the block.
