Let me start by saying I hope I am not hogging this board. I just figured I would post another project. Being a father of a little boy and a little girl, I tend to be inspired by them. I get a huge sense of adventure from them both. Not sure how this pattern came to my head but I started it and finished the moth today. Anyway, let me know what you think. Also, it is my first deviation from basswood since I started using basswood. I am using poplar which is taking a little getting used to.

You're not hogging this board! We all love to see what others come up with.
This is going to be a really sweet carving, especially since your little ones inspired you.

Re: Small dreams; Big Adventures
I did a carving using a Poplar shelving board from Home Depot and understand the difficulty you are experiencing, ended up using more power to prevent splintering.
Looking good so far
Sharp tools make it easier and I think you'll like the results when the finish is on.
