  • Made a Wolf Flute....Finished

    Hey Everyone,
I asked in an earlier thread for suggestions on finishing this flute, and consensus opinion was that I finish it myself. Sooooo.....Here it is.
The flute had an unsightly knot below the head of the flute, so I opted to paint over it; since I was painting it anyway, I went ahead and painted a full moon and stars.
I took your suggestions and had the wolf jumping over something, so I put in a log and boulders. I then painted some shadow of the wolf on top of them.
    So here it is.
I'll play and record something with it later in the day.
    Thanks again everyone.
    Greg

        Greg,

I'm totally wowed again!! That log is pretty close to what my mind's eye saw when you posed the question a few days ago. It fits the scene like a glove.

The wolf head on the front looks a little sad.. I guess he's heard about all of the crap that is going on to eliminate his species from this country. I'm mad as hell about the abuse of the Endangered Species Act!!

          Hi Greg,

That is a beautiful flute. You did a terrific job carving the wolves and painting the flute.

I lie the fact that you incorporated the shadow and the wolf moving in the piece, so much better than a second static image. Nicely done.

                            Hey Everyone,
Thanks for all the kind words and support, and for those who asked for a sound sample, here it is.
I played "Requiem for a Soldier" (most know it as the theme from Band of Brothers).
I played this raw, without amplification to illustrate the two notes above the octatve note.

I then played the theme from "Last of the Mohicans" Using the 'Walkabout' portable amplifier with programs for echo and reverb. If the music sucks....let's agree to blame the flute and not the player!
                            Greg
*False alarm* I converted the files to MP3 and WAV and neither file types will upload. Anyone know of a workaround?

them to You Tube and leave a link to them here.
                              I think that will work.
