Nice panel, look forward to seeing the finished door. It's always nice to be able to give such dimension with the additional wood...really brings things to life. I like the interpretation of the water and water line, that's nice!

Stunning! It is a shame that only one household can own it. Have you considered making a wax impression and then getting it cast in bronze, and, or aluminum and, or copper. Bet there would be a host of high end door makers who would love to offer this as a center panel option. Thanks for sharing this with us.

That's a good idea. I have checked into having my pieces cast into bronze. The cost is high enough that it would be expensive for the cast panels. It would be a big investment for me to have the panels cast. I'd love it if someone wanted to take on the task of doing it. As it stands I already wear so many hats I'm not sure I could take it on.

That really looks great! I like the idea you've described, with the eagle above. What is the thickness of the panel shown?

This side of the panel is 1 1/4" thick. It is one side of a sandwiched panel. The salmon are 1 3/4" thick added on. The eagle is 6" thick and will be added as a branch that stands above the glass. The stiles will be carved as tree trunks and the branch will attached to one of the trunks. The panel for the other side will be 1" thick and carved with the same design in low relief. I will post more photos as I progress with the project.
