OK, here it is. Turned out better than I hoped, I think. I finished the spoon with Williamsville Wax that I got from Woodcraft. That alder is POROUS! It soaked that wax up like a sponge that had been sitting in the desert for a year. Changed it into a really beautiful piece of wood. The color is a little redder than the photos show. If alder weren't such a pain in the touchus to carve, I might be tempted to use it again.
The uff-da chip that I glued back in place has virtually disappeared. If you didn't know where to look, you couldn't find it. Even if you did know where to look, it could be taken for a natural variation in the grain.
So, all in all, a successful project if I do say so myself! 8-)
