  • turtles on a reef

Just finished this piece and I didnt have an idea what I wanted except that I wanted turtles. Of course its big (base is 6 ft long) but my problem is the turtles were carved out of cherry from the same tree but one is fancy wood and the other plain. I dont know if they fit on the same piece. I guess tonite I will burn some eyeballs into them but besides that I think I am done. the turtles are 18" long. base is ebony stained hickory.

I think they coplament each other well. They wood grain and design imply motion.

No problem in my head = two different species of turtles!
I have one started, not planning to bother with eyes, because everybody assumes they
have eyes in their heads. You have good profiles for the beaks = you're done with a really good looking piece.
