latest doddle

Something I just threw together from scrap. I enjoy this type of project more than a monumental one just to break up the routine. He is only 7" wingspan oak. the base is my favorite live oak tree. I hate to waste a piece of my favorite live oak because I am running out and when its gone I dont know if I can find any more.
So I might carve another "wave" base out of some nasty wood. This base looked like a wave breaking behind him as he flies along ignoring such. So now my challenge is to carve a base that looks like a piece of bark that looks like a wave.

I can see him flying effortlessly thru the waves, but I dont know if anyone else can see that. I mean , if you have to explain it then its not good.

Wonderful piece! I love to sit on the beach and watch the pelicans follow the waves and just 'tip' their wings in the water. I'm sure you'll find a wonderful base for it eventually. You might try mesquite, just search on Ebay.
