  • My second bowl, and better; I think.

So here is my second bowl with only one coat of stain. I was on autopilot and grabbed gel by mistake instead of the normal stain. Will see how it dries, and after a few coats how it looks; then decide if I will ever use it again. Anyway, let me know what you think. I will post the final photo of it after it has had all its stain applied.

Very nice! I would love to be able to decorate a bowl like that.

It is right at a foot long, it is approximately 2-3" deep at the center, but has a slight curve to that, so not as much volume in there as you might imagine. The wife wanted it to be a decorative piece and not for use, so that made making the center much easier. I am not liking the gel stain. On that subject it is seems to be causing the ends to soak up even more than they normally would versus any other finish I have tried. Is there some way to make it so that the rest of the bowl is finished the same tone as the ends?
