Swamp Knights (Work in Progress)

Ahh Father's day, 5 hours at the bench uninterrupted. Then an hour making a wooden train set with my 5 year old daughter. Does it get better than this?

Started work on a new Chess set, this time with "Swamp" knights, aka Gators. Here's the top pieces power carved, I have more smoothing and detailing to go, but wanted to share the current results. Also threw in a nice look at what the new finished pawns look like.

Right now this is all Oak, the opposing side will be Burmese Blackwood.

Hz, it is going to be interesting to see this one finished. The gators look good so far.

My plan is to put a Fleur-de-lis on the top of the king, give it a little swamp flair

It was a great fun to work on these pieces thus far, I expect I'll turn up some bases tonight and finish off any residual smoothing with some sapphire bits.
