I am thinking of try to make the project in the latest (I think) WCI. It is the folder shirt box. I am thinking of making it in Butternut. My other though was instead of boring out the cavity was to use 4 piece of 4/4 the middle 2 cut out the cavity with a jig saw and smooth it all out then glue those to the top and bottom piece you will end up with basically the same effect though you will have the piece you cut out and the side would be straighter. My only concern would be the grain changing direction at the seems. Though with the butternut spoon I could either way as long as you did not go to deep it did no split. Do You guys think it can be done that way?
