  • Cedar Blossoms

I finally figured out how to carve several blooms/blossoms in a bunch. The following pictures are my attempts at a test piece before tackling a large project incorporating several blossoms, leaves, and vines. Cedar can be difficult to work with, but I like the look of the grain and colors.

Those are just fine. Makes me realize that, after all these years, I should be able to keep the legs on a 12" turtle. Not quite.

Wow! Those are really good. What is the large project you're going to do?

        Re: Cedar Blossoms

I am going to carve a freestanding growth of vines with several bunches of blooms and supporting leaf structure. The whole contraption will be over four feet tall when finished. I am power carving it out of what was once a solid cedar trunk.

That is really a nice "blossom"! I was wondering because I've never seen or heard of a blossom on a cedar tree......now it makes sense!
