  • Some New Stuff

I was cleaning up the carving room last month but it was way to hot to work in there so I took one of the many lap dancers that had been collecting dust for years and decided to do a few of those.

I can kick back in the recliner with a bath towel in my lap and after a little work
with a bench knife it's all detail tools and very little mess.

The Snowman, Snowlady and Fisherman roughouts were from Gerald & Barbara Sears, the small wood duck (by Dee Gipson) and the Penquin (by Don Worley) were from Rossiter Ruff-Outs now Moore Roughouts.

    Questions, comments and suggestions welcome

Hey William neat set of carvings, I especially like the finish on them. My favorite is the Christmas Penquin,

Really nice work William... Now can I show my stupidity by asking what a lap dance has to do with carving? Duh!!!! Never had one but then I've never associated them with carving either.

              Re: Some New Stuff

Thanks Guys, The carvings are mostly natural with minwax stain in spots, the natural areas were treated with Lacquer sanding sealer for the darker areas and water based sealer for the light areas like the hands and face of the fisherman and the snowmen.

Thanks Ginny, I like that one too. I getting hooked on all natural finish, the difference in color on that one is the water base and lacquer sealer.

lol...hey Eddy, a few years ago a friend was over and while we were talking I was doing some detail on a carving sitting on my big belly and he asked me if she was a belly dancer but over this last year and a half I've lost 80 lbs, most of it was that nice carving bench so now I guess they are called lap dancers.

Nice looking carvings William I like them all but kind of have a preferance for the fisherman also.

Thank you all for the kind words

I've not worked with roughouts for years and this has been fun.

You are right on Ironman, in this picture the one on the right is the last of my Christmas carvings, it's a "Sea Cap'n" by Gerald Sears and the other one is "Old Navy" by Steve Prescott sold by Moore roughouts but I'm making him part of a 3 man land survey crew scene for my collection.
