  • Humpback Whale Flute Finished

    Hey Everyone,
I'm attaching some photos of the finished Humpback whale flute project I wrote of earlier.
In retrospect.....there's somethings I'd do differently, but, it is what it is.
I finished the tail on the block, but opted not to make casting resin water dripping off it. Perhaps on a different project I'll do that.
    Anyway, here it is.

          Re: Humpback Whale Flute Finished

very well done, and great detail. Looks like it take a LOT of wind to blow that one.
I want to try and make one, maybe two feet shorter and maybe change it to a snake something a little easier.

            Re: Humpback Whale Flute Finished

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate it.
I've since airbrushed the white leather ties the color of the flute so it's a little less garish.
By the way, it doesn't take any more air to play this flute than a 3/4" bore flute.
It's as easy as breathing, and that's why I love laying a Native American styled flute.

I'd love to hear your whale song Greg. It's a real beauty.

If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

Holy smokes... not what I was expecting to see for a flute when I opened this up.

                  Looks fantastic !!!!

That is really good. Really good. Work up a couple of whale songs.
                    What's the pitch range?

Again, thanks for the kind words and support.
I wish I'd recorded the whale flute before shipping it to Florida; but then, I'm a better flute maker than flute player. I might'a gotten hate mail from all of you, and that would've ruined my day!
