  • Bison WIP from Desiree Hajny Class

Ginny asked me to post some pictures of this bison I carved last weekend in a Desiree Hajny class put on by the Loveland Co. carving club.
I need to finish burning the different textures and paint the beast. The burning is pretty new to me so time will tell.
If you ever get the opportunity to take a class with Desiree Hajny I highly recommend taking it. She is an amazing artist as well as carver and a great teacher.

Great job Terry! Your detail is awesome. Can't wait to see what you do with the burning.I have every one of Desiree's books ... about as close as I will get, you definitely paid some attention and learned a thing or two. Keep the photo's coming.

Terry, Thank you for posting the pictures. I could tell it was and is a great piece from the work area photos. Seeing the closer up pictures confirmed that for me. Please make sure you post pictures after you finish it. I really want to see it. thanks again Ginny

Ginny you are welcome. Thanks to all for the kind comments they are appreciated!! I see many things that I should have done better/different I just hope I don't goof up with the burning :<).
The class was a blast good folks and Desiree and Bernie are great they just make it such a fun atmosphere you can't help but learn. If you ever get a chance to take a class from them I would jump at the chance. If I get another chance I will take another one for sure.

Terry, I am glad you made to the class this time... Looking good. Now get it done in time for the show. That is my goal... Bet there may be a few bison entered this year.

Rich I am working on it don't know about entering it but will see--the burning is going OK just have to do it slowly( never dislocate a wrist). The paint will be another hill for me to climb I am not a painter :<).

I finally finished the burning on the bison( it takes a long time when you can only burn for 10-15 minutes every 3-4 hours). I began to think I was never going to get done :<). Now I need to paint it and that is always a challenge for me. I think I will finish this now :<) wasn't so sure a week or so ago.
I hope the pictures are OK after shrinking to fit I never know.
