Thanks! The wood is Catalpa, From upstate NY. Dried about 10 years. Most of my tools are Henry Taylor, but I also have Pheil, Ashley Iles, and some others I can't remember the names of from the early 1900's. I like the older steel as the quality for sharpening and holding an edge can't be beat, and anything from Sheffield, UK. I usually begin defining the edges of each stage, then work over the depth and curves of each area, working from left of the center line, then to the right and back again. using calipers and my original drawing for reference.
