Here is a cross with dogwood flowers I've been carving. It is basswood, 9.8" tall, 6" wide, 3/4" thick.
It is based on a picture I saw online when looking for ideas. However, the original was much more stylized and carved in an intaglio style (the flowers/branches are below the surface). I wanted it to be a little more realistic looking and for the flowers to be above the surface of the cross.
I hope to wrap up the carving, mainly under-cutting all of the flowers and leaves and start painting this weekend.
It will be going in an auction at an upcoming family reunion. We do the auction to cover costs for food, etc. at the reunion so I hope it sells!
