I really like the bugs and the fish...I see you are still churning them out. The hillbilly gives me mixed feelings. I like the simplicity of him and see how he is a good beginner project. I just don't like his face. It looks sort of like a flower stuck to his face since there is no real definition that distinguishes his beard from what I take to be either his cheeks or a mustache. Maybe some simple texture of the fcial hair with a small gouge or v tool? The rest of him is well done. It may just be me, but I think there needs to be a little more "something" on that face. I offer these comments as constructive criticism only in the spirit of friendship.....keep up the great work.

No offense taken Slow. This is a project for "real newbies" who have never used a knife before. They use a knife and a V-tool only. The other challenge is that I have 3 hours to teach them. Usually getting to this point (without paint) takes the entire three hours. I have another class this week, so will take your comments to heart and see what I can do. Constructive comments/critiques are always welcome!

I like them all, especially the hillbilly. I can see them giving a new carver a scense of accomplishment.

Terrific "Whittle Things" as always and I like the hillbilly...just the main cuts...nothing complicated. Any beginner would be proud to turn one of those out! I think it's perfect just the way it is!

I like your work, sir. Someday I may take a class to learn carving in the round.
