  • Amish family whittled. :)

    Hi all,

Well, I can close my trusty pocketknife for now. The Amish family from Ron Ransom's great book "Ron Ransom carves an Amish family" I was whittlin' for my angel delight is all whittled, & she LOVES them! Here's a photo that show the boy all whittled, & a photo of the family together finally, & as they look on her shelf. {I posted photos of the other figures previously} I only did the father, mother, son, & daughter, as that's what my lady wanted, & she likes them natural, so that's how they'll stay. Now I want to build a buggy, & whittle a horse to complete the set. I think I'll do a proper size black "silhouette" from thin plywood of a horse & buggy for now to put behind them. I hope you like them, & happy whittlin'

I like how the children turned out. They have a touch of the "Willow Tree" figurines in the facial area--which I would like to strive for for.

      Thanks for posting

Very nice. Cool project and anything you add to it will just strengthen the scene.

Thanks for the nice comments all. Like I said in a prior post, the mother is whittled from wood from the side rail of my angel's childhood bed, the father from basswood from my home town, & the children from pine bought from a mill just up the way from my darling's camp in the Adirondacks. That makes this a REAL special grouping. Happy whittlin'

Well done! You should make a note of their meaning including the date so that when they are brought out 100 years from now, the story is not lost.
