  • new project new knife

awhile back i posted about trading my ol rw/ms knife off to the old woodcarver that came to see me doing a carving demo at a festival. i thought later on well shoot i guess i'l buy me another one, little did i know they had stopped making them with the power hacksaw blades. so no you couldn't buy it anymore. until i got lead and ordered me 2 the other day and man i love them!!! i forgot how great they cut. so this was my first project, carved from basswood with a briwax finish. i mounted it on reclaimed wood cut like an arrowhead, then i burned it and sealed the edges and rigged the leather strap to hang it by.

Great piece...I especially like the color contrast between the figure and the background, really sets the carving off.

You made good use of that new knife. Your idea for finishing the edges of the background piece worked well. You have an ecellent carving and presentation.
