A great find

Hi gang,
Yesterday I took my dog for the first walk of the year on the Trans Canada Trail a great place to get away from it all an look for some great new pieces of wood. Not to mention that Midnight likes the outing as well. It was like I just won the Lottery I had found Gandolfs stick. Well not really but it reminded me of it. A young maple for what ever reason was laying there ripped out the ground probably by a snowmobile but it was my treasure. I cant wait to carve it that will mean 10 unfinished carvings laying around now. Just thought I would share the stick with you. I can see a woodspirit with great hair coming out of this stick.

Boy howdy, only a wood carver would get excited over a stick, unless it was my litle bride and then she would devise severl ways to use it on me.

Colin, looks like a great find for sure. Waiting to see what you come up with on it.

Ten unfinished carvings? What have you been doing this winter eh? I have a cow that I started way to many years ago and have not finished it. It has the utters but looks like a bull. Maybe now I am ready to finish it. Then there is an Eagle that my son wants, then the donkey my wife wants. She has already named it Ken,then there is the cigar store indian, and a borughan boot, and a bark mountian man and a drift wood wood spirit and a old hiibilly and a hibilly woman and a malard duck decoy and a wood duck decoy, and a , well you gatch the drift.

If you would do a female wood spirit, you could name it Phylis Diller. Looks just like some of her hair dos.

Well finally got around to roughing out that maple stick that I found the other day. Yes you guessed it all other carvings are on hold this maybe will end up that way too who knows. Here is a picture of the stick all cleaned up and roughed out with a woodspirt I cleaned all the bark off of it an shortened the roots a little. I will post as I go tomorrow maybe or maybe not.LoL

That be a fine looking stick/staff. I like the spirit you decided to carve in it. Stained or unfinished, it will be a beaut.
