  • Celtic Plate

Just finished in time for woodworking show in the A.M.
The local carving clubs have a few tables at the show to display and demonstrate carving.
I chose Celtic because most people seem to be facinated by the knotwork and they tend to ask a lot of questions.

Great Job Papasar! I should try one, but I look at the design and consider the layout time and do something else! ha ha

Beautiful plate Bill, that's a lot of detailed work. My eyes would cross after a while working on that! So many lines to keep track of. Well done!!!

              Thanks for the kind words.
The woodworker show was pretty successful. Three or four people showed interest in joining the club, one of them being an 8 yr old boy. Spent time with the boy and his Mom and she was all for her son learning to chip carve. Told her to get him a glove and I would supply the knife, strop and some wood to get him started.

Just my observation - all types of outstanding carving was on display by the clubs but I had the only chip carving. The majority of the crowd was around the chip carving and the most interest was in the Celtic work. Don't believe it had to do with my work per se, but that people aren't used to seeing chip carving and the knotwork is like a magnet. Most questions had to do with the knotwork.
