This is a single table leg or pedestal that I'm working on. It supports a movable table in our RV. The wood is red oak, 2-1/4" x 24", mortised into the base and the table bracket. The pattern of chip carved oak leaves is adapted from a Wayne Barton design. I've started at the bottom, and have only done a couple of the leaves.

Re: Table leg
Thanks for your encouragement, WCI friends. I had started this project several years ago when I replaced a breakfast nook setup with cabinets and a partially retractable table with chairs. When there's just the two of us, the retracted table is perfect for two. But if we have "company" it can seat 4 or 5 quite nicely. The table is supported on expansion rails from another old table, and the single pedestal that I'm carving.
Debbie: As you might imagine, most of the existing wood in an RV is not good for carving, although the door/drawer fronts are red oak.
